Celtic manager Neil Lennon has admitted the club may have sold wantaway players during the summer transfer window had ten-in-a-row not been on the line. The Bhoys boss has already talked about how Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong had requested moves away from the club prior to their departures. Lennon has made it clear that…
It probably would have been better if we had sold them tbh
Aye have to agree John the camp hasn’t looked comfortable all season
Who are the want away players and why didnt they go in the window just closed? Surely the club could have facilitated their departures so as to begin rebuilding? Presumably they will leave in the summer? Also we were told NL & JK had a conversation with OE and apparently he was happy. Only OE? Want away players don
t enhance their prospects by underperforming or being disinterested.
Over the piece I think we can determine the wantaway players to be Ntcham, Frimpong, Ajer, Edouard and Christie, at least.
Well they’ll all likely be gone come the summer. Rogic too.
Yes NL first complained about players wanting to leave after the Rangers 0-2 game, Ajer Frimpong and Ntcham started, Christie and Edouard were unavailable I believe. I assume the 3 loan players, possibly 4 will depart along with Rogic who may well be thinking he should have taken his chance, That is a lot of rebuilding if we are to challenge Rangers next season. And as for the European qualifiers…and I haven`t even mentioned the goalkeeper.
Absolutely reckless not to have a new manager appointed before now because half of the first pick players need replaced in the summer and if the euros tournament takes place we can forget about fielding a strong team in CL qualifiers. If NL is still manager I doubt many SB will be sold so the Celtic board need to appoint new manager before next rangers match. The only thing left this squad of players can achieve is stopping SG team remaining unbeaten in league. That would be a
consolation for us fans. It’s the least we are owed.
The tactics used by Neil Lennon are and are questionable. He does not believe in defending as a team and is happy for some players to get criticized as a result. How many times have we seen a Celtic central defender one on one in the penalty area or just outside this season. Time after time after time we have seen that. In other leagues that can happen but it happens rarely. Who the hell would want to be a goal keeper or central defender with Neil Lennon as manager. We need a new manager AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He will need time to start to build a team that can compete in Europe. Those in positions of power at Celtic need to understand that IT’S EUROPEAN GAMES that matter and improve our standing in world football
Totally agree with you Chris. If NL remains in post til end of this season it will harm next season.
Fello Celt, what the Celtic fans have come to learn is, in this, well, what was meant to be the ‘Season of Seasons’, that the individuals that are in charge of the day to day running of Celtic (from the very top all the way to the bottom) have been exposed as, a group of outdated, lazy, redundant, self-serving, self-preserving, incompetent, arrogant and complacent bunch of Money-orientated business men that haven’t a clue as to how to run a modern footballing department. If Desmond cares at all about this club, he needs to strip it, from top to bottom.
1): Lawwel (going)… for a multitude of failures (over the last decade) the deliberately slow destruction of Celtic on the Europe Stage, (for other very suspicious reasons, relating to domestic football and a club that needed saving for the long-term sake of the SPFL). Failing to speculate to accumulate for Europe and blowing millions on dud’s, all of which has been hid behind the ‘Quadruple Treble’ achievement (that, largely in part is owned to Rodgers), not Lennon. Erecting barricades and using the ‘Blue-Nose’ tainted elements of the British media to label the Celtic support as ‘Scum’, ‘Entitled’, ‘Dirt’ and ‘A Mob’ and the Dubai piss-up, which ultimately sealed his fate.
2): Ian Bankier (Needs replaced) … What does this man really do? ………. Anyone? Known for his disdain of the Celtic support, before Lawwell appointed him to the board, was part of another company that owned a VIP Box at Ibrox, hummmmmmmmmm. Once took a chance to have a pop at the Celtic support before later stepping up onto a stage at a UEFA event to except an award on our behalf, really.
3): Lennon (Needs Replaced) ………………. Defiantly not a legend nor an iconic figure, lets be clear about that but in the eyes of deluded few and their skewed perceptions, appears to have risen-up to become a Jesus like figure that is bigger than Celtic and its 133-year history and bigger than the Lisbon Lions, this guy (in their eyes) is untouchable and unsackable. In season of seasons Lennon has been exposed as a not very good, one-trick pony manager, is tactically inept, doesn’t believe in nor practices or implements ‘Shape and Formation’, doesn’t believe in nor practices or implements ‘In-depth Match Analysis’. Domestically but especially on the European stage, he was sending the team onto the pitch knowing next to nothing about the opposition, their danger men and how to counter act them on the field. He cannot and will not accept criticism but is quite happy to blame everyone and anyone when things aren’t going his way, going as far as to split the dressing room by throwing the players under the bus to deflect away from his obvious failings as a manager.
4): Kennedy (Needs Replaced) …………… Assistant Manager? Defensive Coach? ……………. What role dose Kennedy actually perform? Why is he still here? If this man was as good as Rodgers claims he is, why is he not the manager yet? If Lennon was thrown in at the deep after Mowbray, why was Kennedy not the automatic favourite to jump into the hot-seat after Rodgers?
4): Strachan (Needs Replaced) …………… Only here to keep his da happy
Neil is on about players wanting away last summer b4 10 started. Yes I liked him as a player and a manager, however, putting a midfielder as a striker and two strikers on the bench was very stupid. The fans cry out 3.5.2 is fantastic, Ooop’s failure Neils fault. Then he puts out the diamond formation far too late it’s a fantastic formation, but way too late.
Christopher Jullien, was looked at by Celtic a year or two b4 we got him and he wasn’t good enough then as Brendan said and never will be too weak. Two midfielders as central defenders? Rubbish board not getting in real defenders three years ago. Instead they borrow time after time till Duffers ouch nuff said on him pity too. As for JK he got a bad injury playing for Scotland I’m sure? And Celtic have looked after him since, they should’ve left him as coach in youth for more years but was there b4 and after Rodgers?
You are correct about Lennons tactics. Totally inept.
Yeah. The famed “Lenny Ball” is more chaos than any strategy.
Want away players should go. It’s just a shame we haven’t got a want away manager!!!
chris, after last night even I want him out. I have given up on his tactics, just look at the subs he brought on and when. Leigh didn’t care he still had a go. And Klimala b4 him did he even touch the ball?
Well said !!! I am at the point of complete despair. .
