The only young player we’ve brought in from outside, had success with the first team, and sold for a (huge) profit, was Dembele.
I don’t understand our model anymore. Will this kid be brought in to bolster the first team? To sit in the development squad and be nurtured to the first team? That path doesn’t appear to exist anymore. None of the young players we’ve brought feom other teams has gotten close to a first team place, and only a few youth squad players have had a chance to get a first team game, usually out of necessity. Am I being pessimistic?
